LING 314 Language Study for Elementary/Middle Teachers Detailed study of the linguistic sub-systems of English (phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics/pragmatics) as they directly relate to the background knowledge and skills required for effective elementary teaching. Topics include: language standards and dialect variation, cueing systems in reading, vocabulary development, writing conventions and personal voice, bilingual and second language development. Credits: 4 Prerequisite: LING 209 , LING 214 or LING 310 Satisfactory Grading: Eligible for the Satisfactory/No Credit grade mode.
