Mission

Strenghten educators’ knowledge, skills, and dispositions. Improve professional practices, enhance leadership abilities, and strengthen technology implementation, and/or bolster litearcy practices to improve educators’ instruction and curriculum design. Empower quality education rooted in creativity, innovation, best practices, and research.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Effectively apply the professional content expertise, knowledge, skills, and dispositions of their education and/or instructional profession.

  2. Use research and evidence to develop environments and learning materials that support and assess learning and professional practice.

  3. Show commitment to and develop professional education leadership attributes.

The Curriculum & Instructional Design, Master of Science in Education degree consists of 45 credit hours of approved graduate-level courses.

The degree has three areas:

  1. Professional Education Core (13)
  2. Pathway (24): (choose one pathway)
    • ​Curriculum & Instruction 
    • Learning Design & Technology
    • Literacy
  3. Exit requirements (culminating experience) (8)

Core Courses


All Curriculum & Instructional Design students complete the Professional Education Core (13 credits) and select one of the three pathways (32 credits) to complete their degree.

Curriculum & Instruction Pathway


Students must take 12 credits in required courses, 12 elective credits, and complete 8 credits in capstone courses to satisfy the exit requirement.

Electives


Twelve credit hours of ED and CSE courses planned with MSEd Curriculum & Instructional Design coordinator.

Learning Design & Technology Pathway


Students take 20 credits in required courses, 4 elective credits, and complete 8 credits of exit requirement.

Electives


4 credit hours of ED and CSE courses planned with MSEd Curriculum & Instructional Design coordinator.

Literacy Pathway


Students take 12 credits in required courses, 12 credits of planned elective credits, and complete 8 credits of exit requirement.

Electives


Twelve credits of literacy related ED and CSE electives approved by the literacy advisor.

Total Credits: 45
