Mission
The Music program spotlights music as an integral element of WOU’s culture through community engagement, academic coursework, and co-curricular activities. Our diverse vocal and instrumental ensembles maintain an active schedule of public performances, with accessible participation opportunities for Music majors, General Education students, and community members alike. The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a liberal arts undergraduate degree in general music studies. Individualized lessons, ensembles, and core courses in music proficiency and music history make up the heart of the program.
Learning Outcomes
- Develop and demonstrate proficiency and literacy in one or more areas of music study: vocal performance, instrumental performance, composition, audio production.
- Apply critical thinking to analyze music in cultural and historical context.
- Create and refine a portfolio of professional materials, skills, and dispostions.

Note:
For all courses graded A - NC, a grade of C or better is required to count toward the Music major. Music Performance
- Individual lessons: MUP courses (6 credits)
- Music ensembles: MUEN courses (6 credits, including at least 3 credits at 300-level)
