SOC 204 Introduction to Sociology

This course will introduce students to the processes of thinking like a sociologist, from the founders of the discipline, methods used, and the questions we can ask about the nature of our world and our relations to one another. We will then transition to consider social inequalities and social justice, especially in terms of the ways in which race, class, and gender structures life chances. Students will be encouraged to demonstrate in their work, not only what they have learned directly from the course material, but also, and more importantly, the development of their own critical perspectives.
Credits: 4
Satisfactory Grading: Ineligible for the Satisfactory/No Credit grade mode.
Exploring Knowledge: Social, Historic, and Civic Perspectives
