CJ 446 Race and American Law Enforcement


This course will present the history of racism in America and the origins of policing. Specifically, the course will discuss how the institution of slavery and control of minorities shaped early policing. The course concludes with examination of contemporary strategies for re-envisioning policing as an institution practicing equity, inclusion, diversity, and procedural justice.
Credits: 4
Prerequisite: CJ 213  or Instructor approval
