PE 183 Advanced Backpacking Trains individuals to plan and lead backpacking expeditions. Trail selection and profiling, orienteering, safety and trip planning will be discussed and demonstrated in the field. Main focus is on a four-to seven day backpacking experience in a wilderness environment. Course presupposes basic knowledge of backpacking issues (leave no trace principles, safety and equipment). May be repeated for up to 6 credits. Credits: 2
