ANTH 390 Development and Humanitarianism Course explores the history of international development aid, major critiques of development, and ethnographic accounts of development encounters. We also examine the politics of humanitarian aid, from the creation of crises to problematic applications of the idea of ‘humanity.’ Introduction to Cultural Anthropology or Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology strongly recommended.
