ED 668 Assessment in Reading Instruction


​​Explores current research in best practices in literacy assessment. This course will focus on identification, diagnostic and corrective techniques in reading for the classroom teacher, reading specialist, and/or literacy coach. Content will include formative and summative assessments to determine students’ literacy strengths and needs, as well as how to plan and carry out effective instruction to address students’ literacy and language development. Continual emphasis will be placed upon the importance of aligning assessment methods with instruction, research, and equitable practices.
Credits: 4
Prerequisite: Six credits of reading education coursework or consent of instructor
